With our South District closed for a second season, this year's Fall Gala was more important than ever. Our donors were up to the challenge, as were over 160 attendees and our wonderful volunteers. All together, over $4000 was raised to operate and maintain our backcountry hut and trail system.
This year's Gala was held November 3rd at the Seattle REI store.
Attendence wasn't as high as in past years, but those present
seemed to have a good time. And most of those vieing
for the coveted weekend stays at Copper Creek hut got their wish.
This year, a very special thanks must go out to our Gala Partners. When told about MTTA's critical needs, this group donated almost $4000 worth of goods and services. At the top of this elite group, REI donated almost $2000. Please thank these businesses for their very generous support, and support them in turn:
Help Us Get Through This Season
With the loss of South Distrct revenues for last winter (due to the November, 2006 flooding disaster), and with many extra dollars already allocated to purchasing a new Snow Cat, 2007 had been finanically challenging for MTTA. But in October, this financial situation got significantly worse.
First, MTTA was informed a new bridge providing access to the South District would not be installed as previously planned, effectively closing 3 of our 4 huts for yet another year, causing the corresponding loss of revenue and donations. Next, we were informed that the DNR had not been able to hire a snow plow contractor for our North District. They had a pickup and employee that could do the work, but MTTA would need to pay $6000 for a new snow plow.
This loss of revenue and unexpected $6000 expense has severely strained our finances. The proceeds from Gala will help, but more dollars are needed to cover this season's operating costs. If you can, please help us with an easy an online gift or by mailing a check to MTTA, PO Box 206, Ashford, WA 98304. No gift is too small and all gifts are tax deductable (MTTA is a 501-C3 organization). We appreciate your help in this time of need.
The success of MTTA depends first on our trail users, and those
that attend the Gala are among the most important.
They contribute by paying the entrance fee, buying silent auction
items, becoming members and making donations.
But most importantly, they generate enthusiasum for MTTA's
backcountry and pass that enthuiasum on to their friends.
We sincerely appreciate their contributions!
And speaking of the silent auction, it would not exist without the donations made by many individuals and businesses. Their donations drew people to the Gala, made it a fun event, and most important, raised money to operate and sustain our trail system. Our hats are off to all of our donors, but in particular we want to thank the following businesses for their generous donations. MTTA's success is tied to theirs; in effect, they're "our partners". Please visit them, thank them for supporting MTTA, and support them in turn:
