Grooming along the beginning of the Puyallup Ridge
Trail. The trail
generally winds along ridgetops past lakes, meadows, and rock
outcroppings. Surprise vistas around each bend include views of
Mount Rainier the only accessible view this close from the west in
winter as well as distant views of other Cascade Range Volcanos.

Evening Alpenglo paints a story of solitude looking
back from near
the lookout with the trail winding along below and across the ridges
toward Copper Creek Hut six miles distant beyond the horizon on the
right.
The Puyallup Ridge Trail doesn't get much skier traffic because it
doesn't go to another hut and can be a long journey if you want it to
be but all sections of the trail offer world class views when
experienced on skis or snowshoes and you can choose how far you want
to go safely. There are also backcountry camping opportunities along
the ridge in protected areas for those who really want to rough it.

Way out here closer to the lookout, there are many
options for
exploring for those who are experienced in going off trail while the
groomed trail winds along on it's way to the lookout (on the right
side in the distance).

Open areas along the ridge, offer off trail forays
in fresh powder.
